Intended use

Calcium and magnesium fertilizer is intended for application in any soil conditions, regardless of the type of cultivation. It is recommended for soils with low magnesium content. Its basic significance consists in improvement of supply of cultivated plants with secondary components, such as: calcium, magnesium and sulphur. The function of these components, especially magnesium and sulphur is stimulation of the yield-forming effect of nitrogen. Plants well fed with sulphur and calcium are less susceptible to attacks of patogens.

InPolanddominate light soils which are often acidified and characterize with magnesium deficiency, and in extreme cases also with calcium deficiency. Therefore, the use of calcium and magnesium fertilizer with moderate rate of action is a very good solution. The components of the fertilizer shall be released gradually during vegetation season, without the risk of their quick washout out of reach of the root system. Beside its nutritional function, the fertilizer contributes to the improvement of the physical and chemical properties of the soil.

Calcium and magnesium presence in the fertilizer is particularly important as regards fertilizing of plants which absorb large quantities of both components. Very demanding plants include winter rape and beet root. In case of less demanding cultivations (crops) it is recommended to use the fertilizer preventively, in order to prepare the position for a replacing plant (deciduous). Chemical formulation of the fertilizer allows for its application in the “interchangeable” fertilizing system, i.e. in such a manner so as to prepare a good position for more demanding plants.

Properties

Calcium and magnesium fertilizer contains the following nutrients (% m/m): 27% (CaO)complete calcium oxide, 3.5% (CaO) water-soluble calcium oxide; 16% (MgO)complete magnesium oxide, 2.5% (MgO) water-soluble magnesium oxide and 10% (SO3)complete sulphur trioxide.

Intended use and dosage

Calcium and magnesium fertilizer should be applied prior to seeding. After seeding it should be well mixed with the soil. Depending on the content of the available magnesium in the soil, the doses of the fertilizer shall amount to 150-350 kg/ha. On poorer positions it is recommended to apply the fertilizer each year (it may be mixed with other fertilizers) in the doses 150-250 kg/ha. In medium and heavy soils, which are moderately supplied with magnesium, good results may be obtained by application of the fertilizer bearing in mind particularly demanding plants, in a single dosage amounting to 200-350 kg/ha, depending on the magnesium content in the soil. Do not apply larger doses than recommended.
